APC Social Media Head Remanded for Cyberstalking - Bayelsa Court Case

Aye Egberi, the Head of Social Media for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, has been remanded in the Medium Correctional Centre for 30 days over alleged cyberstalking. Egberi is accused of publishing defamatory material linking top state officials to a kidnapping incident.

The arrest followed a directive from the Police Commissioner, citing violations of the Cybercrime Prohibition Prevention Act. The prosecution argued that Egberi's actions posed a threat to the targeted officials' lives and the breakdown of law and order.

The court ordered the remand based on the severity of the allegations and potential penalties under the law.
