Blogger Remanded for Defaming Anambra Governor Soludo

Inew Ejik Ofoegbu, a blogger associated with Igbo Time Magazine, has been remanded at Awka Correctional Centre following a court order due to allegations of defamation against Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and his son, Ozonna Soludo.

The charges against Ofoegbu include three counts: identity theft, defamation, and cyberstalking, as outlined in the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act of 2015 and its 2024 amendments. The Chief Magistrate C.O.

Ezekwer presided over the matter, which was initiated by prosecuting counsel Nwanri. The prosecution claims Ofoegbu published false and defamatory reports, including allegations that Soludo disowned his son and described him as a drunkard.

The court determined it lacked jurisdiction to entertain the bail application and advised Ofoegbu to approach the High Court of Anambra State for bail. The case has been adjourned to July 27, 2026, pending further investigation.
