Siblings Remanded Over Alleged N35m Theft at Airport

On a recent date, the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja ordered the remand of siblings Abubakar Aliyu and Abdullahi Aliyu over an alleged theft involving goods worth N35 million. They were arraigned on three counts, including conspiracy and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

The prosecution, led by SP Umar Bello, stated that the defendants conspired to steal a bag containing jewelry, clothing, and shoes at the departure wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in 2020. The stolen items belonged to their elder brother, Alhaji Rabiu Aliyu.

The defendants denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty. Following their plea, the prosecutor requested a trial date and sought to remand the defendants pending the filing of a bail application.

Justice Mojisola Dada granted the request, remanding the defendants in custody until the bail application is heard, and adjourned the matter for trial.
