Court Adjourns El-Rufai's Bail Ruling to June 2026

The Kaduna State High Court has postponed the ruling on former Governor Nasir El-Rufai's bail application to the first week of June 2026. The adjournment was announced by Justice Dariu Khobo during a court session on Tuesday.

El-Rufai is facing multiple charges that include allegations of financial crimes and abuse of office, filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC). His counsel, Ukpon Akpan, criticized the repeated adjournments, suggesting they are politically motivated.

El-Rufai arrived at the court around 9 AM, accompanied by a convoy and security personnel, while movement within the court premises was restricted. Outside the courtroom, supporters gathered amid tight security.

The latest adjournment follows earlier claims by El-Rufai that there is a fresh plot to implicate him in criminal activities, which he argues is aimed at ensuring his continued detention. This situation recalls an incident on February 12, 2026, when there were allegations of a planned arrest upon his arrival at Abuja Airport.
