El-Rufai's Bail Application Postponed Amid Corruption Charges

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, is currently in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) following a court appearance on Tuesday. His bail application was postponed during a session held behind closed doors at the Kaduna State High Court.

El-Rufai is facing nine counts of charges related to corruption, including allegations of fraud and abuse of office. The ICPC had filed these charges against him, and the court session was also marked by the amendment of the case, which led to the removal of Amadu Suleiman, the managing director of TMDK, from the joint charges due to his reported medical unavailability.

The court granted an application allowing the prosecution to proceed against El-Rufai alone. The next hearing is scheduled for April 21, 2026.
