Court Delays El-Rufai's Bail Hearing to June 2026

The Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the bail hearing for former governor Nasir El-Rufai to June 2026. The postponement was announced by Justice Dariu Khobo during a session held on Tuesday.

El-Rufai faces several charges linked to alleged financial misconduct and abuse of office, brought against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission. He arrived at the court premises around 9 AM, accompanied by officials from the anti-corruption agency, and there was a heavy security presence to control movement in the area during the session.

Supporters gathered outside the courtroom while security personnel monitored the situation to prevent disruptions. El-Rufai's lawyer, Ukpon Akpan, expressed concern over the repeated delays in the bail application, describing the situation as politically driven.

The court is expected to continue hearing the matter when it resumes in June, amidst allegations of a coordinated effort to tarnish El-Rufai's image and prolong his detention.
