Court Protects Ugochinyere's Rallies from Disruption

On July 20, 2026, Justice Kayode Agunloye of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja granted an interim injunction in favor of Imo Ugochinyere, the member representing Ideato North/South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. The injunction restrains the Imo State Government, various security agencies, and local government chairmen from interfering with Ugochinyere's rallies, meetings, and civic activities.

The court order, resulting from an ex parte application filed by Ugochinyere through his counsel Chizubor Ezike, prohibits the defendants from damaging or removing billboards and signages associated with Ugochinyere's political activities. The defendants include the Nigeria Police Force, Inspector-General of Police, State Security Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Imo State Governor.

The court emphasized the protection of Ugochinyere's rights to expression, peaceful assembly, and movement, ensuring he can conduct his civic activities without obstruction.
