Court to Rule on EFCC Property Forfeiture Case Against Ex-Accountant-General on April 30, 2026

The Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has scheduled a ruling for April 30, 2026, on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's (EFCC) application for the final forfeiture of properties allegedly linked to former Accountant-General of the Federation, Chukwunyer Anamekw Nwabuoku. The EFCC is seeking the forfeiture of properties suspected to have been acquired with proceeds of crime.

The defense counsel, N. Quaker, argued against the EFCC's application, claiming the properties were not linked to any criminal trial.

The prosecution alleged that funds diverted from military operations against Boko Haram were used to purchase the properties in question. The case involves an amendment to nine counts of money laundering charges amounting to N868,465,000 against Nwabuoku.

Justice Jame Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja is overseeing the proceedings.
