CPTA Commends Tinubu for NSCDC Leadership Reappointment

The Civil Society Group (CPTA) has expressed its commendation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the reappointment of Dr. Abubakar Audi as the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for a five-year term effective February 27.

This decision is seen as a strategic move that underscores the President's commitment to strengthening Nigeria's internal security architecture. The CPTA highlighted Dr.

Audi's leadership performance during his first tenure from 2021 to 2026, noting significant operational achievements, including the arrest of 4,677 economic saboteurs and the prosecution of 2,039 cases, resulting in 638 convictions. The group also pointed out the dismantling of 283 illegal refineries, which is crucial in curbing crude oil theft and environmental degradation.

Furthermore, the NSCDC has remitted a total of 4.47 billion naira over the past five years, reflecting fiscal discipline and transparency. The CPTA expressed confidence that Dr.

Audi's reappointment will further consolidate and strengthen the NSCDC's role in Nigeria's security framework.
