Nigeria U-19 Cricket Team Falls to Uganda in Opener

In their opening match of the 2028 ICC U-19 Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier held in Rwanda, Nigeria's Junior Yellow Greens faced a five-wicket defeat against Uganda. Batting first, Kenneth Bobiface was the standout performer for Nigeria, scoring 97 runs off 107 balls.

However, the rest of the batting lineup struggled, with only Okasha Isiyaku contributing 34 runs off 81 balls. Nigeria was bowled out for 176 runs in 45 overs.

Uganda's bowlers, particularly Felix Ocan and Larry Elton, each took three wickets, significantly hindering Nigeria's scoring. Uganda successfully chased down the target, finishing with 178 runs for the loss of five wickets in 38.2 overs, led by captain Samuel Ahaisibwe's 72 runs off 90 balls.

Pelumi Orimoloye was Nigeria's most effective bowler, taking two wickets. Following this match, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Mozambique remain winless, while Rwanda and Ghana secured victories.

Nigeria will next face Ghana.
