Kano Commissioner Ibrahim Waiya Finalist for National Award

Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the Kano State Commissioner for Information, has been named among three finalists in the Crisis Communication category for the 2026 National Spokesperson Award. This announcement was made in a statement by Sani Abba Yola, the Director of Special Duties at the Kano State Ministry of Information, on Wednesday in Abuja.

The letter, dated June 22, 2026, and signed by Segun McMedal, the Chairman of the Planning Committee for the National Spokesperson Award, confirmed Waiya's selection. The award, organized by the National Spokesperson Award and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, aims to recognize excellence in strategic communication and public engagement.

Professor Saudat Abdulbaqi, the Chairman of the award jury, announced that 42 finalists were selected across 16 categories after a rigorous evaluation process. Waiya's nomination adds to his growing list of honors since assuming office less than two years ago.

The winners will be unveiled during the awards ceremony scheduled for August 2026.
