Cross River Assembly Suspends Lawmaker Over Violence Claims

The Cross River State House of Assembly has suspended Dickson Agbor, the representative for Obubra State Constituency, indefinitely due to allegations of violent conduct. This resolution was reached on Thursday after a motion was moved by Davi Etta and seconded by Francis Bassey.

The assembly condemned Agbor's behavior as unbecoming of a lawmaker and contrary to the ethical standards expected of its members. To preserve the integrity and reputation of the assembly, an ad hoc committee was formed to investigate the allegations, with a report to be submitted for further legislative action.

The Speaker of the House, Elvert Ayambem, emphasized the need for members to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the trust placed in them by the public. Following the allegations, Bassey Otu's wife criticized Agbor's actions as irresponsible, while Agbor's wife, Gloria, called for privacy and expressed a desire to resolve the matter amicably within the family.
