Cross River govt enrolls 500 informal sector workers in free health insurance programme

The Cross River State Government has enrolled 500 informal sector workers in a free health insurance program in Etung Local Government Area. This initiative is part of efforts to expand access to healthcare and strengthen social welfare programs.

The program, facilitated by the Cross River State Health Insurance Scheme (CRSHIS), aims to ensure that artisans, farmers, traders, and residents who earn a salary have access to health insurance. The Commissioner of Health, Henry Ayuk, emphasized the importance of fairness and equity in the enrollment process, with each ward represented in the selection committee tasked with enrolling 50 individuals.
