Hoodlums Disrupt ADC Event in Cross River State

In Cross River State, hoodlums disrupted an event organized by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) aimed at inaugurating a new secretariat. The incident occurred when youth, allegedly affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), stormed the venue, destroying equipment including loudspeakers, chairs, and tables.

Dr. Effiong Nyong, the ADC governorship candidate for the 2023 elections, described the attack as unfortunate and indicative of the extent of poverty and political oppression in the area.

He criticized the APC for not allowing the ADC to operate locally and emphasized the need for the state government to ensure accountability for the violence. The Cross River State Police Command confirmed the incident, describing the attackers as hoodlums, and noted that while the situation was brought under control, no arrests had been made at the time of the report.

Efforts to reach newly elected APC state chairman Christoph Etta for comment were unsuccessful.
