Peter Obi Denounces Attack on ADC Secretariat in Cross River

Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate and ex-governor of Anambra State, condemned the violent disruption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secretariat opening in Bakassi Local Government Area, Cross River State. He described the incident as a direct attack on Nigeria's democracy.

Obi expressed his concerns in a statement shared on his verified social media account, highlighting the growing decline of democratic standards in the country. He warned that the attack on the ADC office was not merely an assault on a political party but an assault on democracy itself.

Obi cautioned that continued tolerance of political violence and misconduct would further weaken Nigeria's democratic institutions. He noted that the failure to hold perpetrators accountable reflects troubling erosion of leadership standards.

The incident involved suspected political thugs who disrupted the event, vandalizing materials and equipment. Obi emphasized that credible leadership cannot emerge from a system characterized by intimidation and political thuggery, warning that such actions threaten the nation's stability.
