ADC Condemns Attack on Secretariat as Assault on Democracy

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned an attack on its secretariat in Ubima, Ikwerr Local Government Area, Rivers State, which occurred on Thursday night. The attack, attributed to suspected political thugs, involved heavy gunfire and resulted in the burning of the ADC secretariat.

This incident took place ahead of a visit by former governor of Rivers State and immediate past Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi. Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC's national publicity secretary, characterized the assault as a direct attack on democracy and a violation of the constitutional rights of Nigerians.

He emphasized that the ADC will not tolerate such criminal acts aimed at intimidating political opponents and reaffirmed the party's commitment to peaceful political engagement. Abdullahi also highlighted a pattern of violence against ADC members, warning that the party would not allow its members to be targeted by political thuggery.
