Senator Ekpenyong Empowers Constituents with Vehicles

On Saturday in Calabar, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, distributed 150 minibuses and 200 tricycles (keke napep) to constituents in Cross River as part of an empowerment program. This initiative is designed to complement the economic development efforts of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu.

During the distribution ceremony, Ekpenyong emphasized the importance of the initiative in promoting self-reliance among the youth and reducing unemployment. He urged beneficiaries to maintain the vehicles and not to sell them prematurely, as they are intended to provide sustainable income.

The initiative was executed in collaboration with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), represented by Linda Okara, who noted that the selection of beneficiaries was done at the grassroots level to ensure inclusivity. Daniel Ajunwa, the NDDC state director, also highlighted the program's role in engaging youth and curbing crime.
