Cross River NDC Chairman Faces No Confidence Vote

The Cross River State executive council of the Nigeria Democratic Congress has entered into a dispute over allegations against its chairman, Goddi Akpama, concerning anti-party activities and financial irregularities. A vote of no confidence was passed against Akpama, who is accused of having a conflict of interest due to receiving a salary from the state government until May 2026, despite claiming to have resigned.

The council's communique, signed by deputy state chairman Mark Ujor and other officials, states that Akpama's actions raise questions about his eligibility to lead the opposition party. Akpama has denied the allegations, asserting that no resignation letter or refund receipt exists and that the claims are politically motivated.

The executive council has called for an investigation into whether proper procedures were followed and whether party funds were managed appropriately. They seek to restore unity within the party and address the internal disputes that threaten the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Cross River State.
