NDC Executives Pass No-Confidence Vote on Chairman Akpama

The Cross River State executives of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) passed a no-confidence vote against their chairman, Goddi Archibong Akpama, due to allegations of receiving a salary from the state government until May 2026 despite claiming to have resigned. The executives accused Akpama of anti-party activities, financial irregularities, and autocratic leadership.

A communiqué issued on Friday, signed by Deputy State Chairman Sir Mark Ujor and other party leaders, detailed concerns over Akpama's management of party resources and failure to consult relevant stakeholders. Akpama responded by denying the allegations, asserting that he has documentary evidence of his resignation and refund of mistakenly paid salaries.

He characterized the accusations as a smear campaign aimed at undermining his leadership and the party's electoral prospects. The executives called for an investigation into the allegations and the restoration of the original state executive council structure to ensure party unity.
