Cross River NDC Votes No Confidence in Chairman Akpama

The Cross River State Executive Council of the Nigeria Democratic Congress passed a no-confidence vote against its chairman, Goddi Akpama, due to allegations of receiving a government salary until May 2026 despite claiming to have resigned. The council accused Akpama of undermining the party's growth through various actions, including financial irregularities and failing to harmonize party structures.

A communiqué issued on Friday and signed by Deputy State Chairman Sir Mark Ujor and other party officials outlined these grievances. Akpama dismissed the allegations as politically motivated, asserting that he formally resigned on February 16, 2026, and provided documentary evidence to support his claims.

He denied any anti-party activities and emphasized his commitment to the party's objectives ahead of the upcoming governorship elections. The party's national working committee has been called to investigate the allegations and restore unity within the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Cross River State.
