Crude Oil Theft Involves Specialized International Syndicates – NNPCL Boss, Ojulari Reveals

NNPC's Managing Director, Mele Kyari, revealed that crude oil theft is carried out by specialized international syndicates, as stated by NNPCL Boss Ojulari during the Africa Chief Defence Staff Conference in Abuja. Ojulari emphasized the need to enhance national and continental security architecture to combat this illegal activity.

He noted that while crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism, especially in the Niger Delta region, have been contained in recent times, it requires continuous efforts and commitment from the government and security forces. The event was attended by dignitaries including the Vice President, UN Deputy Nigeria National Security Adviser, Nigeria Chief Defence Staff, ECOWAS Commission President, and Chairperson of the African Union Commission.

Ojulari's remarks shed light on the complex nature of crude oil theft and the importance of addressing it through collaborative security measures.
