CSAI Defends CDS Oluyede Against Political Allegations

The Citizens Security Awareness Initiative (CSAI) issued a statement on Saturday in Abuja, defending General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, against accusations of involvement in partisan politics. CSAI condemned these allegations as false and misleading, emphasizing that such claims could undermine public confidence in the military.

Muktar Sadiq, the Convener of CSAI, stated that General Oluyede's focus is on defending Nigeria's territorial integrity and combating security threats like terrorism and banditry. CSAI asserted that the military is a professional institution bound by the Constitution and should remain non-partisan.

The organization warned that politicizing the Armed Forces could damage public trust and create divisions within Nigeria's democratic framework. CSAI commended military personnel for their sacrifices and urged political figures and the media to avoid statements that could misrepresent the military's neutrality.
