CSAI Condemns Political Allegations Against CDS Oluyede

The Citizens Security Awareness Initiative (CSAI), a non-partisan Civil Society Organisation, condemned efforts by certain individuals and groups to associate Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Olufemi Oluyede and the Armed Forces of Nigeria with partisan political activities. In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday and signed by Convener Muktar Sadiq, CSAI described these claims as baseless, false, and misleading, warning that they could undermine public confidence in the military.

The organization emphasized that the Armed Forces are a professional institution committed to the Constitution and democratic principles. CSAI reiterated that General Oluyede's focus is on defending Nigeria's territorial integrity and protecting citizens from various security threats.

The group urged caution among politicians and commentators to avoid creating the impression that the military is politically aligned, asserting that any attempts to politicize the Armed Forces could erode public trust and create divisions within Nigeria's democratic framework.
