Nigerian Military Denies Viral Video of CDS Oluyede

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) of Nigeria has officially dismissed a viral video that purportedly shows Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Olufemi Oluyede making partisan political statements. In a statement released on its X handle on Thursday, the DHQ described the video as fabricated and confirmed that it did not originate from General Oluyede.

The DHQ stated that the video is fake and urged the public to disregard it, emphasizing that the statements attributed to the CDS are false. The military clarified that the video was produced through artificial intelligence-generated manipulation, designed to mislead the public and misrepresent the CDS's position.

The DHQ reaffirmed the non-partisan stance of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, stating its commitment to the Constitution and the defense of the nation. Furthermore, the DHQ condemned the creation and circulation of the fake video and warned those responsible, as well as individuals amplifying the material, to cease such actions immediately.

The military encouraged Nigerians to rely solely on information from its official communication channels.
