CSOnetMADE Commends Reception of 258 Nigerian Returnees

On June 11, 2026, 258 Nigerian returnees arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, from Johannesburg, South Africa. The CSOnetMADE Southwest Zone praised the Nigerian government's successful reception of these returnees, facilitated by multiple agencies including the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

CSOnetMADE mobilized volunteers to provide critical humanitarian assistance and emotional support during the reception process. Mari Otukp, the organization's Lagos State Coordinator, emphasized the importance of dignified reception and the need for psychosocial support as part of the reintegration process.

Denni, the Executive Director of Denni Social Welfare Hub, noted that the reception activities represent the first phase of reintegration, which requires ongoing support to help returnees rebuild their lives. The organization called for improved stakeholder coordination and stronger privacy protections for vulnerable returnees.
