Deputy Speaker Kalu Denies NYSC, Law School Allegations

The office of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon.

Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has dismissed allegations made by the Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG) regarding irregularities in his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) participation and attendance at Nigerian Law School. The Deputy Speaker's office described these claims as unproven and politically motivated, aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

It emphasized that Kalu is a duly qualified legal practitioner with credentials verified at multiple stages of his career. The statement also noted that similar accusations were raised during previous political contests in 2023, which were dismissed as legal proceedings.

The Deputy Speaker's office urged the public to disregard these politically charged allegations and reaffirmed Kalu's commitment to legislative reform and national development. It called for due process and the presumption of innocence, rejecting any attempts at political blackmail or coercion against public officials.
