Kalu Dismisses NYSC and Law Certificate Allegations

Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, responded to allegations regarding irregularities in his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) participation and his law school graduation certificates. During a media briefing in Abuja on Friday, Kalu labeled the claims made by the Coalition for Good Governance as unproven and an irresponsible attempt to convict him in the court of public opinion.

His Chief Press Secretary, Levinu Nwabughiogu, stated that the existence of a petition does not equate to proof of wrongdoing. Kalu emphasized that he is a duly qualified legal practitioner and a public servant whose credentials have undergone rigorous verification through multiple stages in his career.

He was called to the Nigerian Bar in September 2011 and subsequently enrolled as a legal practitioner with the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Kalu urged that the allegations are premature and mislead the principles of fair due process.
