CSOs Protest Delay in Deputy Speaker's Certificate Case

On Wednesday, civil society groups, including the Civil Society Group for Good Governance (CSGGG), protested at the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) office in Jabi, Abuja. The protest was in response to the LPDC's ongoing failure to address allegations against Deputy Speaker Rt.

Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu regarding significant inconsistencies in his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) service year and enrollment at the Nigerian Law School, Enugu campus.

The groups expressed their frustration over the LPDC's neglect of its statutory duties, which they argue undermines public trust in the legal profession. They highlighted the need for transparency and accountability, urging the LPDC to act decisively on the petition filed by John Aikpokpo Martin, Esq., on January 20, 2026.

Chief Domin Ogakwu, a convenor of CSGGG, emphasized that the integrity of the legal profession is at stake and warned that continued inaction could lead to public pursuit of alternative legal measures.
