Coalition Defends Deputy Speaker Kalu Against Allegations

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has publicly dismissed allegations against Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, concerning his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certification and records from the Nigerian Law School.

The group, led by President Dr. Ebekuo Madu and Secretary Paul Nwachukwu, described the claims as politically motivated and emanating from rival interests in Abia State.

They emphasized that Kalu's NYSC certification is valid, having been confirmed by a senior NYSC director during an investigation. COSEYL demanded that the sources of the allegations be produced, asserting that the reports are filled with falsehoods aimed at tarnishing Kalu's reputation.

They also noted that Kalu has not declared any intention to run for governorship in Abia State, suggesting that the attacks are unfounded and part of a recurring pattern against prominent political figures from the South East region.
