CSOs demand suspension of Kano officials over alleged fraud

A coalition of 20 Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Kano has demanded the immediate suspension and prosecution of senior government officials allegedly involved in a corruption case amounting to N7 billion. The CSOs, in a statement released on Sunday, expressed concern over the scandal, warning that it could erode public trust and hinder the state's economic progress.

The CSOs cited two recent corruption cases, including a money laundering scheme and diversion of funds by government officials. They called on the government to suspend the implicated officials and cooperate with investigative agencies for a transparent prosecution.

The coalition emphasized the need for stronger legislative oversight, whistleblower protection, and regular publication of state financial reports to ensure transparency. The CSOs warned that corruption in Kano has become systemic and urged residents to remain vigilant against such practices.
