CSOs Push for Local Financing to Fight HIV and TB in Nigeria

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Nigeria advocate for increased local financing to combat HIV and TB. The Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) emphasized the importance of domesticating anti-discrimination laws and meeting health budget commitments.

The Abuja Declaration of 2001 urged African nations to allocate at least 15% of their budgets to health, including fighting tuberculosis and malaria. NEPWHAN calls for a revisit to ensure progress towards these targets, emphasizing the need for internal resource mobilization amid global donor pullbacks.
