Nigerian Customs Agents Seek Waiver for Imported Goods Held Up at Ports

Licensed customs agents in Nigeria are seeking a waiver for imported goods stuck at ports due to glitches in the Nigeria Customs Service's trade modernization project. The delays have resulted in high demurrage charges for imported goods, causing financial strain on agents.

The National President of the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents has petitioned President Bola Tinubu for assistance in addressing the issue. Lucky Amiwero, the President of the umbrella body for customs agents, highlighted the unpredictable costs and additional charges faced by agents.
