Nigeria Customs Service Launches AI Training Program

The Nigeria Customs Service, under the leadership of Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi, has commenced a capacity-building program centered on artificial intelligence (AI) aimed at improving revenue generation and remittances. This initiative is part of efforts to enhance transparency and efficiency in public financial management.

The training took place in Abuja and brought together senior customs officials, technology experts, and representatives from the legislative oversight committee. During the event, Adeniyi emphasized the importance of adopting modern technological solutions in public administration.

Deputy Comptroller General Kikelomo Adeola highlighted that the program reflects the nation's commitment to developing AI as a strategic tool for enhancing systems and operations within the customs service. The initiative aims to leverage AI to better understand international trade patterns and optimize customs operations, ensuring transparency in public accounting.
