Nigeria Customs Service Invests N70 Billion in Education

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has committed approximately N70 billion to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, primarily targeting education and critical infrastructure across Nigeria. Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi announced this commitment on September 16, 2026, after commissioning renovated facilities at Ife Girls’ High School in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Adeniyi emphasized the necessity for organizations to support public institutions, stating that the government cannot address all infrastructure needs alone. The NCS aims to enhance the learning environment by not only renovating buildings but also making schools more appealing to students.

The CSR budget includes funding for the renovation of four classroom blocks, a laboratory building, a staff building, and the principal’s lodge at the 60-year-old Ife Girls’ High School, which faced significant infrastructure challenges. Adeniyi noted that the condition of the school was alarming prior to the intervention, highlighting the broader infrastructure issues in public schools.

He also mentioned that the NCS is committed to donating a quarter of its yearly salary to these projects.
