Nigeria Customs Service Wins Commonwealth Gold Award

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) received the Commonwealth Environment and CSR Gold Award in Glasgow, Scotland, on July 31, 2026, for its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, 'Customs Cares.' This award recognizes organizations with sustainable, measurable interventions that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The initiative has significantly impacted education, healthcare, food security, and environmental sustainability across Nigeria, reaching over 10 million people in 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Timi Bomodi, the Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection, accepted the award on behalf of Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi, describing it as a milestone in the Service’s transformation journey. Adeniyi attributed the honor to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The initiative includes school renovations, healthcare projects, clean water access, food support, and the Green Borders Initiative. Mbwiduffu Ibrahim, the Comptroller in charge of CSR, stated that this recognition would motivate the Service to enhance its community efforts.
