Nigeria Customs Service Wins Commonwealth Gold Award

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) received the Commonwealth Environment and CSR Gold Award in Glasgow, Scotland, for its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Customs Cares. This award honors organizations with sustainable, measurable interventions that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Customs Cares has positively impacted education, healthcare, food security, and environmental sustainability across Nigeria, reaching over 10 million Nigerians in 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Timi Bomodi, Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection, accepted the award on behalf of Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi, describing it as a significant milestone in the Service’s transformation journey.

Adeniyi credited the honor to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The initiative includes school renovations, healthcare projects, clean water provision, food support, and the Green Borders Initiative.

Mbwiduffu Ibrahim, the Comptroller in charge of CSR, stated that this recognition would motivate the Service to enhance its community efforts.
