Customs Generates N16.4bn In Single Day At Tin Can Port

The Nigeria Customs Service's Tincan Island Port Command achieved a groundbreaking revenue collection of N16.4 billion in a single day, setting a new record. This milestone was made possible by the newly deployed Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), known as B Odogwu, which streamlines operations and enhances efficiency.

Comptroller Frank Onyeka, the Customs Area Controller, praised the system for its transparency, speed, and accountability in cargo processing. The UCMS integrates key elements of Customs operations into a single digital interface, facilitating faster and more accurate assessments.

Onyeka highlighted the importance of collaboration with stakeholders to ensure seamless cargo clearance, especially in light of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA). The Command remains committed to balancing revenue generation and trade facilitation, positioning Nigeria as a competitive hub for maritime commerce.
