The ceremony took place at the Command Headquarters in Sokoto, following the directive of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
Acting Customs Area Controller, DC Haliru Isah Abdullahi, reported that the items were intercepted along the Illela-Sokoto road based on credible intelligence. The seized products included various packages of anti-cold medication, Amodiaquine, Paracetamol, and Quinine.
Abdullahi emphasized that the importation of these unregistered drugs violated Section 55 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and NAFDAC regulations, posing significant health risks. He warned against smuggling and commended the officers involved in the seizure.
NAFDAC Coordinator Abdulsalam Lawan praised the collaboration with Customs and assured that further investigations would be conducted.
