The Nigeria Customs Service, Tin Can Island Port Command, intercepted two 40-foot containers at Tin Can Island Port, Lagos, containing suspected illicit drugs valued at approximately ₦3.67bn. The drugs included Delta-8 cannabis-infused cookies and gummies, concealed among imported used vehicles and automobile spare parts.
The first container, identified as MSDU655132/0, was intercepted on September 2, 2026, containing 890 packs of Delta-8 products weighing 598.08 kilograms, alongside two used vehicles: a 2008 Mercedes-Benz and a 2012 Nissan Infiniti. The second container, SKU625643/6, was intercepted on September 16, 2026, revealing 1,207 packages of Cannabis Indica weighing 603.75 kilograms, valued at ₦3.62bn, along with two used Toyota Sienna vehicles, two used Toyota Corolla vehicles, and used engine spare parts.
The total weight of the seizures was 1,201.83 kilograms. Oscar Ivara, the command’s Public Relations Officer, emphasized the collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to combat drug trafficking and protect public health and safety.
