Nigerian Customs Seizes Stolen Luxury Cars from Canada

On May 4, 2026, the Nigerian Customs Service successfully intercepted a shipment of stolen luxury vehicles at Tin Island Port, including a 2021 Rolls-Royce Dawn Convertible, a 2019 Lamborghini Huracán, and a 2018 Lamborghini Aventador. This operation was described as a major breakthrough against transnational vehicle theft syndicates.

The vehicles were traced back to Canada through a collaborative effort with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, following intelligence shared between the two countries. During the handover ceremony, Nasser Salih, the Deputy High Commissioner of Canada to Nigeria, received the recovered vehicles from Frank Onyeka, the Comptroller of the Customs Area Control Tin Island Command.

The operation was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria's anti-smuggling cargo intelligence system and combat organized crime. The intercepted vehicles were confirmed stolen and illegally exported to Nigeria, demonstrating the increasing sophistication of international smuggling networks.
