Nigeria Customs Launches E-Cargo Tracking System at Apapa Port for Trade Enhancement

The Nigeria Customs Service has introduced the E-Cargo Tracking System (ECT) at Apapa Port to improve trade efficiency and security. The system allows real-time monitoring of cargo movements using electronic seals and handheld devices.

The pilot phase was initiated in Kano and Jigawa, with plans for a nationwide rollout. Customs officials highlighted the system's transparency, tamper prevention, and reduction in physical escort needs.

The initiative aligns with global customs standards, with the aim of modernizing Nigeria's trade environment.
