Customs Officers Urged to Uphold Integrity for Growth

During a visit to the Sokoto command of the Nigeria Customs Service, ACG Nsikan Patrick Umoh charged officers to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct in their duties. She stressed the importance of integrity and discipline in fostering public trust, which has been built over years of service.

Umoh warned that misconduct by a few personnel could erode this trust. She highlighted that the Comptroller General of Customs is driving reforms to modernize operations and facilitate trade.

However, she noted that no reform would succeed without a committed workforce that prioritizes national interest. Umoh urged officers to be firm, fair, courteous, and compliant with traders while remaining uncompromising against smugglers.

This address was part of a broader engagement with critical stakeholders, including import/export license holders and customs agents, to maintain transparency and integrity in dealings with the customs service.
