Nigeria Customs Service Disburses N7.61bn Pension Benefits

The Nigeria Customs Service has disbursed N7.61 billion in pension benefits to 4,237 retirees, as announced by Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi. This payment is part of the service's broader effort to ensure that retired officers receive their entitlements promptly.

During a dialogue with retirees, Adeniyi emphasized the service's commitment to improving the welfare of its retired personnel. The funds have already been transferred to nine pension fund administrators for onward payment to beneficiaries.

The breakdown of the beneficiaries includes 1,223 retirees under Premium Pension, 2,268 under Leadway Pension, and others across various pension management accounts. Adeniyi also addressed concerns regarding the welfare of retirees, urging them to engage constructively with the service rather than relying on unofficial information.

This pension disbursement aligns with ongoing federal government reforms aimed at enhancing pension administration and financial security for public servants, including former personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service.
