Nigeria Customs Seizes 10,126 Cannabis Parcels in Ogun

The Nigeria Customs Service, under the leadership of Area Comptroller Mr. Olukayode Afeni, intercepted 10,126 parcels of Cannabis sativa, commonly known as marijuana, in Ogun State. The total duty paid value of the seized drugs is N743,400,000.

This operation was conducted in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), specifically the Idiroko Special Area Command, led by Mr. William Ekundayo. The seizure is part of a broader effort to combat drug abuse and trafficking, which has significant detrimental effects on society and healthcare systems.

Mr. Ekundayo emphasized the importance of synergy between law enforcement agencies to address the ongoing drug-related crisis, which is already straining rehabilitation facilities and public health resources. He urged those involved in the drug trade to cease their activities, warning that law enforcement agencies will continue to pursue and arrest offenders.
