Ogun Customs Seizes N4.63bn Contraband Goods

The Ogun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, led by Deputy Comptroller Oladapo Afeni, reported the seizure of contraband goods valued at N4.63 billion and generated N259.8 million in revenue from April to June 2026. This period saw a total of 146 seizures, including 2,807 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 9,482 parcels of cannabis sativa, 62 sacks of raw marijuana, 16,525 liters of premium motor spirit, and 475 liters of diesel.

The command's revenue collection represented a 238% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Afeni attributed this growth to the dedication of officers and strict enforcement of import and export regulations.

Notable interceptions included a truck carrying 2,427 smuggled pneumatic tires and another with 630 bags of foreign parboiled rice. The command remains resolute in its efforts to combat smuggling, which poses a threat to local industries and employment.
