Customs Intercepts 3 Truckloads of Petrol at Seme Border

The Nigeria Customs Service has seized three truckloads of petrol at the Seme Border, specifically in the Owod Apa area of Badagry. The operation, known as "Operation Whirlwind," resulted in the interception of 1,650 jerrycans of premium motor spirit (PMS) valued at N40.7 million.

Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, disclosed this during a handover ceremony, emphasizing the relentless surveillance and enforcement efforts across key border communities. Over the past nine weeks, a total of 1,630 jerrycans and three tankers carrying 154,000 liters of petrol were intercepted along notorious smuggling routes.

Adeniyi warned that violations undermine government policies and distort market stability, stressing the importance of inter-agency collaboration with the NMDPRA to ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks. Grace Dauda, representing NMDPRA, urged the public to work together to prevent economic sabotage, highlighting the agency's role in regulating petroleum products in Nigeria.
