Nigeria Customs Service Targets N9 Trillion Revenue by 2026

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set an ambitious revenue target of N9 trillion for the year 2026, as announced by Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi at an event in Lagos. The NCS plans to achieve this through the automation of licensing and permit processes, which is expected to significantly reduce human interaction and processing times that have historically posed challenges.

The automated system aims to simplify the application and renewal processes, allowing stakeholders to complete transactions from their offices or even via mobile phones. This initiative is designed to eliminate long queues and uncertainties associated with manual processes.

Zonal Coordinator Muhammad Babanded emphasized that the automation will ensure fair and consistent processing without the risks of manual errors. The new system is expected to enhance record-keeping and supervision capabilities, ultimately benefiting the maritime sector and improving the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
