Nigeria Customs Launches One Stop Shop for Cargo Processing

The Nigeria Customs Service, under the leadership of Comptroller General Bashir Adeniyi, has inaugurated the One Stop Shop (OSS) in Lagos to significantly enhance cargo processing and streamline customs procedures. This initiative aims to eliminate delays caused by multiple checkpoints and uncoordinated processes that often hinder cargo clearance.

Adeniyi emphasized that the OSS will facilitate a paperless operation and integrate various customs processes, including risk intervention and compliance monitoring. The platform is designed to dismantle fragmented procedures and improve coordination among government agencies.

Deputy Comptroller General Timi Bomodi highlighted the importance of digitizing customs operations to support efficient workflow and decision-making through a shared dashboard. This move aligns with Nigeria's recent trade policy review by the World Trade Organization, which acknowledges efforts to modernize customs procedures and improve risk management.
