Ilorin Emirate Targets 1 Million Voters for 2027 Elections

The Ilorin Emirate Political Advisory Council has set an ambitious target to register one million voters in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The council, led by Dr.

Yakub Yahaya Oloriegbe, aims to achieve at least 300,000 new voter registrations from the current base of 700,000 in the Kwara Central Senatorial District. Following a second-quarter review of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, the council described the progress as steady and encouraging.

The third phase of the CVR is set to begin soon, with optimism about expanding the voter base to reach the target. The council plans to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts, collaborating with traditional and religious leaders, youth groups, artisans, and market associations to boost participation and educate residents about the importance of voter registration.

The council emphasized the need for eligible residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as a vital tool for democratic participation, urging them to remain vigilant against any attempts to undermine their political strength in Kwara Central.
