INEC Records 3.74M Registrations in Voter Drive

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concluded the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise on April 17, 2026, recording a total of 3,748,704 completed registrations across Nigeria. This figure, released in a weekly update by the Director of Information and Voter Education, Mr.

Victoria Eta Messi, indicates that 2,259,288 Nigerians registered online while 1,489,416 completed their registration physically. The commission noted that these figures are preliminary and subject to further verification.

Following the completion of this phase, INEC is shifting its focus to the claims and objections stage, which will take place from April 20 to April 26, 2026. This stage is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the voter register.

INEC encourages Nigerians to verify their details and raise any objections necessary. The first phase of the CVR commenced on August 18, 2025, and ended on December 10, 2025, while the third phase is scheduled to begin on May 4, 2026, continuing until August 17, 2026.
